The girls and I spent a night and a day in Amsterdam. I wasn’t thrilled about going to the Netherlands again, but it offered the cheapest plane tickets and the girls enjoy practicing their Dutch. We were planning to visit the Van Gogh Museum, but I discovered the night before that tickets need to be reserved in advance online because they only let a certain amount of people in on timed entries. Needless to say, they were sold out. Same with the Anne Frank House, which is sold out weeks in advance.
After some research, I reluctantly decided to go to the Rijksmuseum instead (think Rembrandt, old Dutch masters). As I suspected, T didn’t last long, so thankfully the kids were free. It was absolutely mobbed. What was I thinking going to Amsterdam in high season?

The highlight of the morning was playing in the fountain in front of the museum.
The hotel was very old, but in a charming way. It was one of those very tall, narrow Amsterdam houses. 65 steep stairs up to the reception and as many up to our room!

We took a train to Breda and P picked us up at the station. Very modern hotel here in Oosterhout for one night, then headed to various friends for the next 3 nights.

T is beyond excited to be riding on the upper deck of a double decker train.
